Elizabeth McKay Field holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she also pursued doctoral studies.
Ms. Field is a professional classical singer who earns her living performing and teaching voice privately. She is a sought after soloist in New England, the mid-south, and the southeast. Liz and her husband, pianist Stephen Field, also tour and concertize together.
Ms. Field began teaching voice to non-majors for credit while at Oberlin. Continuing to teach while pursuing performing opportunities, The Fields opened The Field Studio as a full-time business in 1996 in coastal Connecticut. They opened in Wilmington, North Carolina in the fall of 2003.
Liz has a tremendous passion for helping people find their God-given voice and for realizing their singing goals - no matter what they are. Voice students at The Field Studio range in age from 11 to senior citizens. Liz teaches beginners and professionals and every level in between. She is an expert at college audition preparation for the voice as the major instrument for any musical major.
Her goal is to use her knowledge, training and personal experience to help her students achieve a seamless, healthy and balanced voice. Elizabeth wants her students to be able to use their voices in a healthy way for whatever type of music they want to sing.
Stephen Field holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Connecticut and a Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Memphis, Tennessee where he also pursued doctoral studies.
Mr. Field is a much sought after performer as soloist with symphony orchestras, in solo recitals, as a chamber music partner and as a piano duo partner. He earns his living performing and teaching piano.
Stephen has served on the faculties of the University of Connecticut and the University of Memphis. He has over 20 years experience in teaching on both the private and University levels.
Steve's students range in age from 6 to 75+ and come to him at all different levels of accomplishment from beginner to college bound piano majors. He especially enjoys the adult beginner or the adult student that decides to 'have another go' at piano after a gap of many years.
One of Stephen’s greatest joys is sharing his gift of knowledge of music, technique, repertoire, theory and a great love of music with his students.
